Welcome to the new Big-Game-Board!

After many years, the board has been completely revamped and updated to the latest technical standards. Take your time to look around, explore the new design, and get actively involved in the forum again. There will be plenty of surprises and new features in the coming weeks.

If you spot an error anywhere or notice something not working as expected, please post it in the forum – we will take care of it.

Have fun on the Big-Game-Board!

One of our Club members spend two days fishing with Traill Witthuhn of Rusvic Charters out of Struiss Bay over the Christmas period. He only released one big Sand Tiger (Ragged Tooth) Shark but, at times, there were several large, 2000lb plus, Great Whites cruising around the boat. An impressive sight!

But in past years several of our members have released huge Great Whites from this fishery.

I understand that Traill is the only skipper on that part of the coast licenced to fish for them on a strictly 'tag and release' basis. And I've just been advised that he had a charter slot available, from 25 - 31 March this year. (Struiss Bay is one of those places subject at times to gales, so charters have to, on occasions, be cancelled.)

Anyway, rather than post Traill's contact details in open forum I've passed them onto Uwe (Milcher). Please forward him a Private Message through the forum if you are interested.

Sorry got one part of that wrong.

Technically you're not allowed to catch Great Whites in South African waters. But, once in a while, whilst you're chumming for other species, one might just happen to appear and then might possibly take your bait. Somthing I'm sure that would provoke a heated debate amongst lawyers!

Any rate Traill's rate for inshore shark fishing is equivalent to £400 a day, just over 600 Euros.

Evidentially the Great Whites that were cruising around the boat had 'discovered' a whale carcass a few days before Andy's trip and had gorged themselves on the rich blubber.
