I have not been active on the site for quite a while, mostly because I was too busy to fish for far too long. i was very surprized when I loggen on tonight to see that I did the last post on this site a long time ago, so here is an update:
the marlin season kicked of in october 2010 with a bang and developed into the best that we have ever experienecd, with many boats getting two and even three releases per day. the manufacturer of pulsator Lures, even managed the fist ever super slam in South Africa and released a total of 6 billfish of 4 different species on that day.
The 2011 SADSAA Billfish classic was once again a very big success, attended by about 80 boats, who among them released 51 billfish over 4 days, of which the first two days was fished in pretty rough conditions.
It has also just been announced that the FIPS word trolling champions will once again be held in Richards Bay in 2012, in the week following the 2012 SADSAA Billfish classic. It might be a good idea for teams who will attend the FIPS, to also charter a local boat and fish the SADSAA too in preparation for the FIPS. it will add very little to your total trip cost.
Our yellowfin tuna season have just started with several large specimens up to almost 90kg having been caught during the SADSAA comp and several even bigger ones having been lost. From now until May this can only get better. From now until May, the marlin caught locally get fewer but much bigger.
Greetings and tight lines to you all from South Africa
